Capri Travel Guide: The Amalfi Coast by Sea

Capri is best seen from the water — not rushed, not crowded, not on a ferry schedule. If you have the opportunity to book a private charter, please do. This turned out to be one of our best days on the Amalfi Coast. We determined our pick-up time, our captain had champagne and light bites for us, and we took a leisurely float from Positano to the Isle of Capri. On the island, we took a car to the top, and then made our way back down, visiting boutiques, taking in the view, and enjoying a few stops at cafes for coffees and treats. There are several lunch spots on the island, but since we had our own boat, we made a special stop for lunch at Da Luigi ai Faraglioni, which can only be reached by foot or boat.

How to Experience Capri

  • Private yacht from Positano

  • Cruise past the Faraglioni

  • Swim stops + coastal villages

  • Lunch at a boat-only accessible location

Why This Matters

Seeing Capri by boat avoids crowds and delivers the island’s true magic.

Capri Takeaway

Capri isn’t about ticking sites — it’s about perspective from the sea.
